At school

The more you grow, the more you will learn. You will start to learn about the body and all the different systems within it, in biology lessons. You’ll learn about reproduction (a.k.a. how babies are made) and about the bodies of men and women. It can be a little awkward for everyone in the class to talk about this when it is related to sex. It might also feel awkward when you know more about the different ways people can grow and about your specific condition. It may be helpful to remember there are many differences between people – how they develop, and how they feel about this, not just people with a DSD condition.

If you don’t feel comfortable in school with the way you are taught about bodies or sexual and reproductive health, you could speak to a trusted teacher or adult about it so they can support you.
